KILMALLIE boss John Morrison warns Saturday's North Division One shinty visitors, Strathglass, have the potential to smash their title hopes.

However, the manager is confident his team can stave off the threat and get the two points the sorely need.

The Caol side return to action after a week watching the results come in from elsewhere and they need to win this game and hope Lovat, in third spot but with three matches left, slip up – as they did last weekend in a 5-2 defeat at Skye.

Morrison told the LN: "We must try to put pressure on them by winning this match. It was a terrific result from Skye last weekend, but that could be the result where Lovat say 'we have made our mistake, now let's keep winning to get over the line'. If they do that then fair play to them, but all credit to Skye, who have responded when the chips are down with a great result."

Morrison feels his side have enough about them to see off them men from Cannich, but also reckons his own team best to wary of a side which won 6-1 at Beauly on Saturday.

He explained: "They have won the Balliemore Cup this year, which is a fine achievement and have had a couple of really good results. Robert Geddes, up front, can still do the business."

Ewan Stoddart misses out through work commitments for Kilmallie, while Peter Carmichael is suspended, but with no second string team, Morrison will add one or two if required.

All the Premier Division matches were wiped out by the stormy weather last weekend, so Lochaber will try again when they host leaders Newtonmore.

Also in the top-flight, Fort William will be looking to return to action with a win at home to relegation-haunted Bute.

Fort's newly-named Scotland skipper for the international later this month against Ireland in Inverness, Gary Innes knows that whichever team Fort boss Drew McNeil fields this weekend, they are eager to finish with four points from their last two matches.

He said: "We obviously had our sticky spell in the season when we were struggling for players and injuries were biting, but we have come back now with a stronger squad at the end of the season, won the Camanachd Cup and aim to win our games against Bute and Inveraray.

"It's important that we finish as strongly as we can. Obviously, the manager can opt to play his strongest team or freshen it up with one or two more with a view to next season.

"One thing is for sure, this is a massive game for Bute and we know the pressure may be on them a bit more than it is for us, but we want to finish as high up the table as we can."

Mid-table Glengarry go to ninth-placed Kinlochshiel in North Division Two, while it's a noon start this Saturday as Kyles Athletic welcome Ballachulish in South Division Two.

In North Division Three, Ardnamurchan have no fixture for the second week in succession.
