THE Lochaber Homecoming Hub will launch next Wednesday.

The hub aims to provide a place where visitors to the area can come to get a good understanding of all that is going on across Lochaber; particularly in relation to the events and activities that have been set up for our "Homecoming" visitors.

It is located within Lochaber College UHI and between June 17 and the end of August 2009, the notice boards within the hub will be kept updated with details of the activities that are due to take place across Lochaber.

During the afternoon periods of noon to 3pm, volunteer "meeters and greeters" will be on hand to help direct visitors to relevant information, other organisations and places of interest.

As part of the afternoon sessions, local musicians will be playing in the foyer between 2pm and 3pm and on each day there will be a set activity between 1pm and 2pm: Mondays – lectures/talks; Tuesdays - craft display; Wednesdays – photography displays; Thursdays – story time; Fridays – games compendium.

On Wednesday evenings, there will be a mini ceilidh from 7.30pm till 9.30pm.

Although the initiative is aimed primarily at Homecoming visitors, locals will be very welcome to join in. The working group which is taking the initiative forward, includes representatives from Highland Council, Lochaber College UHI, Visit Scotland, Outdoor Capital of the UK, UHI, local societies, groups and individuals from throughout the community.

Anyone interested in hearing more about the Lochaber Homecoming Hub, and all that is set to take place over the next few months, is invited to the informal launch of the project on Wednesday, June 17, at 7.30pm at Lochaber College UHI, An Aird, Fort William.
