Rachel and her band will be on the road with the Gaelic rock group, performing 12 nights over the next three weeks. They will finish at the Glasgow Barrowlands on Saturday, December 6. Runrig recently topped the UK DVD chart with their latest release Year of the Flood and have had chart success in both Germany and Denmark, reaching number one in Denmark for several weeks. Rachel was brought up in Kinlochewe, Ross-shire, where she developed a passion for Gaelic song at an early age. She was one of the first 10 students accepted onto the Scottish Music Course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she studied Gaelic song. She has released two solo albums and toured with her own band. "I'm absolutely delighted to be going on tour as the Runrig support act," said Rachel. "An opportunity like this comes around very seldom, so I'm grabbing it with both hands and looking forward to enjoying every minute of it." Rachel now lives in Lochaber with husband Andrew, who plays with Highland band Skipinnish, and their young family. |
