This is the major event in the soling calendar in the UK and there is a strong local fleet ready to take to the excellent sailing waters of Loch Linnhe. In addition to the eight local Solings, visiting crews will be competing from Blackpool and Fleetwood YC, Barry YC in Wales, and the President of the International Soling Association from Kralingsche Zeil Club in the Netherlands. Seven races will take place on Loch Linnhe, four on Saturday starting at 11am, and three on Sunday starting at 10am. Every week, the Wednesday evening dinghy racing and Monday night keelboat racing has been taking place, together with trophy races at weekends. The Black Rock Race for dinghies sailed in a breezy northerly wind recently, which produced testing conditions. This was won by Wayfarer Whimbrell, sailed by David Robertson and Hamish Loudon. Last Sunday, the Loch Eil Race, was sailed in a good south west wind. The results of this race: 1 – Wayfarer MCP, Hamish Loudon and Jim Shearer, 2 – Wayfarer Mischief, Tomek Kruk and Martin Wolfenn, 3 – Laser Fun Ca Va, Alexander and Euan Wilkie. |
