THE Isle of Eigg Historical Society has deposited approximately 3,000 photographs with the Highland Council's Lochaber Archive Service.

The photographs have been gathered from island people as part of a project to record life on Eigg. The collection shows the changes which have taken place on Eigg and the photographs include a rich diversity of material on buildings, people, social history and farming and feature the landowners, crofters, farmers and visitors. The earliest pictures go back to the 1880s and are as recent as the 1970s. The collection is available to consult, free of charge, at the recently-opened Lochaber Archive Centre within Lochaber College, An Aird, Fort William. |
