DESPITE the Lochaber drizzle, HRH Princess Anne was greeted enthusiastically during a two-hour visit to the Fort William area yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). The princess arrived by helicopter at Lochaber High School and was driven to Caol where she inaugurated the work of the local regeneration company, officially unveiling a centrepiece cairn at the village shopping centre.

The princess moved on to officially open the new extension at Lochaber College, An Aird, taking time to talk with officials, staff and students and sampling food in the training kitchen. She completed her tour with a visit to the Belford Hospital, meeting patients and staff in various departments and viewing the hospital's renal unit which opened in 2005. |
