
GLENURQUHART retained shinty's MacDonald Cup with a 5-0 win over Strathglass at Cannich on Saturday.
Neale Reid's low 20-yard drive in the 20th minute opened the visitors' account and this was added to shortly afterwards by Andy Corrigan, who netted from a rebound after Strath keeper Steve MacLachlan had pulled off a stunning save from a fierce Ruaridh Cameron shot.
Glen added a third before the interval when a well-executed Cameron pass put John Barr clear to net from close range.
Cameron's fourth just after the break well and truly finished the game as a contest, with Lewis MacLennan soon adding a fifth for Glen.
Former Camanachd Association president Ken Thomson presented the MacDonald Cup to skipper Stuart MacKintosh, with Glen striker Ruaridh Cameron receiving the Danny Fraser Memorial trophy for man-of-the-match from the man asked to judge the award, Newtonmore stalwart Rab Ritchie.
Prior to the main event, Strath and Glen reserve teams fought out a 0-0 draw in the Ali Bhan Cup, with Glen retaining the silverware by virtue of being holders.

Inverness surrendered custody of the Robert Wylie Cup when they lost out in a penalty shoot-out to Oban Celtic at Mossfield Park after the score finished 2-2 at the end of extra-time.
Inverness led through Craig Nicholson's opener before Lee Askew equalised in the 44th minute. In the 65th minute, David Hill edged Celtic in front, with Colin Fraser's 83rd minute equaliser forcing the match into extra-time.
Lochaber travelled to Kiltarlity for a pre-season challenge against Lovat. The North Division One side led 1-0 through a Sean Nicolson goal until Lovat squared the scoring in the 48th minute through Greg Matheson.
Camanachd Cup holders and Premier Division champions Newtonmore were tested by Skye in Portree, however second half strikes from Glen MacKintosh, John MacKenzie and a late Danny MacRae double earned More a 4-0 win to secure the George Michie Memorial Cup.
Lee Bain's hat-trick helped Kingussie to a 6-0 win over Caberfeidh at The Dell, with Kings' other goals coming through Craig Dawson and a Martin Dallas double.
The tournament involving Kinlochshiel, Lochcarron, Skye and Glengarry at the all-weather pitch at Plockton did not go ahead due to the facility not being accessible.
However Lochcarron and Kinlochshiel met at Battery Park with the Premier Division new boys winning 3-1. On target for Shiel were Finlay MacRae, Gordon MacDonald and Duncan "Ach" MacRae, with Iain MacKenzie responding for Lochcarron.

After the cancellation of their friendly last Saturday against Kilmallie due to a bereavement associated with the Canal Park club, Beauly are hopeful they can get some match action this week when Kinlochshiel provide the opposition at Braeview Park.
Skye Camanachd reserves play hosts to Oban Camanachd's second string Lochside Rovers at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
Rovers, who finished third in South Division One last year, suffered the misfortune of being relegated to South Division Two due to the relegation of their senior side from the Premier Division.
Camanachd Association rules forbid two teams from the same club competing in the same division.
