Brittain hero then villain in cup clash

Ross County captain Richard Brittain scored one and missed one from the spot against St Mirren.

ROSS County held SPL hosts St Mirren to a 1-1 draw in the William Hill Scottish Cup fifth round tie at Paisley on Saturday.

Yet, they almost won it when Richard Brittain, who had given the Staggies the lead from the spot in the first half, missed a stoppage time penalty.

It now means the teams will battle it out in a replay at Victoria Park, Dingwall on Tuesday, February 14.

The Irn Bru Division One rescheduled fixture at home to Partick Thistle will now be moved to another date, with the cup replay against the Buddies taking the priority.

A dull first half burst into life just before the break when Kettlewell was brought to ground when he latched on to a fine pass from Brittain.

The skipper took the spot kick to give the Dingwall side the advantage.

However, the lead was short-lived and Steven Thompson levelled to make it 1-1.

With the Saints pressing for a late winner, County hit them on the break and Corcoran was felled in the box in injury time.

With Brittain looking likely to win the tie for Derek Adams' troops, he missed the penalty and they'll have to battle it out again in Dingwall.
