NAIRN County manager Les Fridge insists he won't change his attacking mindset as they chase down Highland League leaders Forres Mechanics.

Ahead of the division's match of the day against in-form Huntly on Saturday, the Station Parkers find themselves in second place, five points behind the Can Cans, having played two games more.

Buckie Thistle's 3-3 draw with Wick Academy was the only survivor of the wintry weather last weekend, but it's hoped conditions won't hit the fixtures so hard this time.

Nairn's impressive form this season has had their fans buzzing and they know they'll have to add more wins over the festive period to keep the heat on the men from Mosset Park.

Fridge explained that playing flowing - and winning football - is his top goal.

He said: "This is my eighth season at the club and every year we've tried to progress.

"I've always tried to put out an attacking side, rather than one which plays boring football. The players know that training at the club is very much geared towards playing in that way and it's worked for us this season because we've done well so far.

"We've reached five cup finals in six years, winning three of them, and we try to play it with attack as the main target.

"Speaking to other managers in the league, I know that it's becoming more difficult, but we have seven players right now who have come through our youth system."

All eyes remain on Forres and, while Fridge has been impressed by their relentless form this campaign, he did see signs of it last term.

He said: "Forres were right up there until the last four games last season and they have done well to carry that forward into this season.

"They are a big, strong side and will be difficult to stop, but I still think there are many other teams which won't think they're out of it.

"Teams such as Cove, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Keith and even Buckie Thistle or Deveronvale will believe they can get back into it. There's plenty still to play for."

The next objective for Nairn then is to see off the threat from a Huntly side which have not lost a match since Forres beat them 2-0 on October 8.

Nairn ran out convincing 4-0 winners against the Black and Golds at Christie Park in August and Fridge is hopeful that, with home advantage, they can add another three points to the board.

He said: "The pitch at Station Park really suits our style of play, so we're looking forward to this one.

"It's great for us to be in amongst the teams at the top and we're confident after our 6-2 win against Rothes a fortnight ago, we can continue that kind of form."

As we went to press, Gregg Main was Nairn's only main doubt for Saturday having sustained a knee injury recently against Strathspey Thistle.
