INVERNESS CT have signed French winger Claude Gnapka on loan from Walsall until the end of the season.

Gnapka has made 16 appearances for the English npower League One side, and turned down loan options in England in favour of joining Caley Jags.

Marseilles-born Gnapka, who towers at over 6ft tall, can also play in defence, and joins countrymen Gregory Tade and Kenny Gillet at the SPL side.

ICT manager Terry Butcher said: “I have been tracking Claude for a good number of years, but never managed to get him, so we’re very pleased that he has flown north and put pen to paper.

“He’s big, strong and pacy and can score goals, so he will be a very exciting asset to the Club.

“Claude joins Kenny Gillet and Gregory Tade to give us a triple French influence in our squad.

“Having already landed striker Sam Winnall from Wolves on loan, it gives us more depth in a pool which has continuously been depleted by serious injuries.”

The 28-year-old began his career with Montpellier, before spells with Beaucaire, Spain’s Racing Santander, Alaves, and FC Vaduz in Switzerland before landing a contract at Peterborough United.

Gnapka moved to Luton Town in 2008, and scored 22 goals in 107 games for the Conference side, including the winning goal in the side’s 3-2 2009 Football league Trophy win over Scunthorpe United at Wembley.

He signed for Walsall last summer, and has scored once for the Saddlers.
