POLICE have declared a "major incident" in the Lochaber area as storms continue to batter the west coast.
In a briefing issued just before 5pm on Thursday, Northern Constabulary said travel in Lochaber was inadvisable in the current conditions.
Many roads are affected by falling trees and surface water.
The A82 at Onich has been closed indefinitely due to a rockslide one mile north of Corran Ferry.
The A82 is affected in a number of other places. It is closed at Letterfinlay due to fallen trees and several lorries have been blown over in the Glencoe area.
A bus in Glencoe had its windscreen blown in by the wind. No one was injured.
Elsewhere:
* The B863 in blocked by trees between Ballachulish and Kinlochleven.
* The B849 is blocked by trees between Lochaline and Drimin.
* The B8007 is closed between Salen and Kilchoan by fallen trees.
* A power line is down at Drumsallie.
* Tiles have been blown off a restaurant building in Fort William’s west end and onto the town centre bypass.
* A static caravan has been blown over in Lochailort and one person has received slight injuries.
* Highland Council’s emergency planning team has swung into action in Caol, with mobile floodgates deployed to homes in Alexandra Square, Glendessary Terrace, Glenmallie Terrace, Glenmallie Road and Erracht Drive.
* Power has been restored to large swathes of Fort William hit by outages for most of the day.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "A major incident has been declared in the Lochaber area due to the level of disruption and number of incidents.
"An incident room has been set up at Police headquarters in Inverness and the situation is being monitored across the force area.
"The public are advised to be aware of the latest Met Office weather warnings and roads conditions and ensure they are adequately prepared before travelling."
