Body of bridge fall man found in River Leven

THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Leven at Kinlochleven after a major search operation was launched in the early hours of Sunday.

Northern Constabulary, HM Coastguard, Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team and an RAF helicopter were involved in the extensive search.

It which was launched following reports of a man falling into the river from a bridge in the centre of the south Lochaber village at about 1.30am.

The man’s body was recovered from the river at 11.45am on Sunday.

Police have named him as Anthony Winton (25), from the Glasgow area.

His next of kin have been informed.

A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Fort William.
